JL

Hey There 👋🏻

I’m Ladan Johari, a product designer based in California.

I’m obsessed with how people move through, systems, spaces and stories.

I design tools that help people organize their thoughts, find what they need, and take action with confidence. I love turning messy problems into simple flows, and complex systems into experiences that just make sense.

Whether I’m building a digital interface or shaping an environment, I care about structure, intention, and how design can quietly make someone’s day easier, better, and more fun.

My Creative Journey

I learn by making whether it’s with code, clay, or a new design tool. For me, experimenting isn’t just about skills, it’s about staying curious enough to find what I wasn’t looking for.

I feel most inspired when I share ideas and build things with others. Collaborating with people from different backgrounds helps me see problems more clearly and come up with better solutions.

What keeps me going is knowing that design can make life a little easier or more meaningful. Whether it's removing a small frustration or helping someone feel understood, that's the kind of impact I care about.

My Design Process

My design process always starts with a simple question: Who am I designing for, and what do they need?

Once I’ve identified the target audience, I define the core challenge we’re solving. I follow design thinking as a foundation but adapt my approach based on the needs of the project.

Research is key. I gather insights through user interviews, competitor analysis, and real user feedback, often through reviews or direct testing.

Away from the screen

When I’m not designing, I’m usually in a museum, out on a trail, or photographing the pace of the city. I’m a city girl at heart, but I have a soft spot for wildflowers, mountain air, and quiet moments in nature.

I used to make homemade wine, I’m surprisingly good at sewing (ask my friends), and I will absolutely beat you at Jenga. I read about psychology, biographies, and art history. I love a good documentary, late night shows, and SNL reruns.

I’m a matcha person, coffee’s never been my thing. I make friends easily and hold onto them for life. (I’m still close with my high school classmates.)

I'm always collecting little details, colors, textures, overheard conversations, that somehow find their way back into my work. If you’re curious about what I’m up to, follow me on Instagram for art snapshots from my world and the occasional matcha shot.

Let’s Create with Intention

From concept to craft, I bring ideas to life. Reach out and let’s begin.
